Dear presenter at ECAS 2013,
With this email, we would like to share with you a PDF of the last issue of ARIA: Annual Review of Islam in Africa (formerly ARISA: Annual Review of Islam in South Africa), no. 11, 2012, a publication of the CCI (Centre for Contemporary Islam), Cape Town. Articles published on previous issues can be downloaded from our website: http://web.uct.ac.za/depts/religion/Institutes/arisa_downloads.php
Our Journal has a growing readership and we would like young researchers who are doing work on Islam in Africa to consider it as a possible avenue to submit the findings of their researchers in a brief, readable format. The main purpose of our publications is, in fact, to generate wider awareness and circulation of researches being made by scholars and post-graduate students from different parts of the world, touching on Islam in Africa. Hard copies can be ordered through the CCI administrator Cathlene Dollar (DLLCAT004@myuct.ac.za) at the cost of 100 Rand (from South Africa) or 150 Rand (from outside South Africa).
We are currently working on the next issue and we are happy to receive contributions on any topic related to Islam (religion, culture, arts, literature, politics, history, society) in the African continent and its diasporas, as well as, more generally, on Religion and Society in South Africa. As we normally publish short pieces (2,000-2,500 words), ARIA offers an ideal space to established researchers to contribute short reflective pieces, but also to young researchers and postgraduate students working on Islam in Africa to publish the preliminary findings of their researches. We would therefore like to invite you to consider submitting to ARIA a short version of the papers you have presented at ECAS 2013, even if you may be busy writing a longer version to submit to another Journal or as part of a book.
Kind regards,
on behalf of the Editorial Board of ARIA:
Andrea Brigaglia
